The Wedding of a Beautiful Couple - Kristina Staal Photography

Emma and John’s day was beautiful from start to finish, but was also extra special and unique because John is a Priest and the ceremony took place at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, which is his church! Emma and John met at Yale Divinity School, and during the marriage ceremony, the Priest officiating the wedding said something that stood out to me. He mentioned that John went to Yale Divinity School seeking divine love, and also found human love with Emma. Reflecting on this, it’s truly amazing how God has a plan for all of us, and even when we may least expect it, he brings us together in ways we would never expect. Not only did John and Emma grow closer to God through their time at school, but also to one another. I’m so glad God brought Emma and John together in this way! They’re beautiful people inside and out, and their wedding day was so peaceful, fun, and filled with so much love.

This was my first time capturing a marriage for a Priest, and it held such deep meaning to me personally because Christianity is such a big part of my life and how we raise our children. This was also my first time capturing a wedding party where all of the groomsmen are Priests! This made the ceremony extra-special and it was a must to capture all groomsmen in their robes with John after the ceremony!

Although the day was hot and a bit smokey (due to the Canadian wildfires), all of the details of the day turned out perfect! Emma and John styled their wedding in such a classic and timeless way (my fav!), with little personal touches here and there.

Following their ceremony, we did portraits and then headed over to Roger Sherman Inn for cocktail hour and the reception. This is one of my favorite venues – it’s has a quaint and intimate feel. Great music, food, speeches and dancing was enjoyed!
